Parlour Guitar labelled MC Mousset and original case
Michel Mousset was born on 8 January 1788 in Mirecourt and died on 31 March 1864 in Mirecourt. The C in the mark is perhaps an indication of the luthier who really made the instrument, but also perhaps the C in the name of his second wife, Cardinet and I will therefore place it after 1847. He was a big instrument merchant who crisscrossed Europe with a friend who was a lace merchant (Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Prussia) He always lived in Mirecourt and the Paris brand was only commercial.
A Van Welsenes was a musical instrument dealer in the Hague.
